HOW THEY MET
Maria & Farhan met in business school, at the University of Chicago. Farhan was a year ahead of Maria, but they were a part of the same business group for students. He claims he noticed Maria right away. Maria was actually the one who offered to buy him a drink at the bar that same night. Farhan moved to Dallas after graduation, and Maria had to find any excuse to go visit. She finally planned a trip and their first date ended up being at a Texas steakhouse. Funny enough, neither of them like steak.
HOW HE PROPOSED
The couple had planned to go on a 4th of July road trip from San Fransisco to Los Angeles. Before that, they stopped in Dallas to visit his family on the way. Farhan originally planned to propose in California. He changed his mind last minute so the two of them could celebrate with family. He should couldn’t wait any longer to lock it in! Farhan told Maria that they were going to meet his best friends downtown, but ended up going to the rooftop of an old building where he first told her that he loved her. and that is where he popped the question.
THE ELOPEMENT
Maria & Farhan’s wedding day was planned for September of 2020, but Covid-19 impacted their special occasion. With family from all over the world, they decided it would be best to elope now and plan a much bigger celebration for later. Maria & Farhan made it very clear with me that they wanted this elopement to be just as special as the large celebration, filled with memorable moments.
Their elopement was held at San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California under the beautiful blue skies on a warm summer day. Maria started her day with hair and makeup by the Elwynn & Cass team, while Farhan strolled the property in his fedora. The ceremony was located in the garden and an acoustic guitarist played as the couple entered the space. Lastly, a beautiful floral arch marked the altar where the two shared their vows and commitment to one another.
After the reception, Maria & Farhan decided to let loose a bit by taking a drive in their convertible down to the beach for sunset. Jacqui of Jacqui Cole Photography jumped in the back to capture the whole adventure. They drank champagne, got their feet wet in the water and strolled the sandy beach as husband and wife.
The reception was positioned on the wine cellar patio, where a table for two was set just for them to enjoy. They enjoyed a meal by the fire and ended the evening with a small cake for two.
It was such an honor to be a part of their special elopement. In the midst of such a troubling time for our world, they shined so bright with joy. Thank you, Maria & Farhan, for allowing me to be a part of this very special occasion. I am forever grateful.
